New £7-Million Health Centre In Leominster To Open On The 4th Of July 2026
The new Marsh Court Health Centre in Leominster is to be officially opened on Saturday the 4th of July by Prof Sir Sam Everington, President of the Royal College of General Practitioners. Ryeland Surgery, which serves nearly 20,000 patients, has now moved into the £7‑million facility after 15 years of delays.
The two‑storey building includes more than 30 consulting rooms, a detached research cabin, and space for around 90 staff, including 19 GPs. This will result in a “low patient to GP ratio,” according to GP Crispin Fisher, who helped drive the project.
Dr Fisher said the old surgery had been “completely unsatisfactory,” adding: “Now we've got a purpose‑built, wonderful medical centre, with plenty of consulting rooms, 72 parking spaces, wonderful access for disabled people.”
The building has been designed to feel light and spacious, using natural materials to create a less “clinical” atmosphere. Fisher described the development as “a 15‑year campaign,” saying: “It's been a marathon and we've just crossed the finishing line.” He added that “the whole team here are really pleased to have finally moved in.”
A notable feature of the new centre is its on‑site research hub, which is currently involved in a trial for new kidney‑disease medication. Fisher said: “I don't think there are many surgeries in the country that have their own research centre on site, so I'm almost as excited about that as I am about the main building.”
He also noted that planned housing growth in Leominster will bring additional patients: “We've got 19,500 at the moment, but in future years if we need to expand, we have the space to do it.”
